StepStone: A Brief History

StepStone was founded in 1996 to operate a Norwegian job board. It was listed on the Oslo Børs (Ticker: STP.NO) in 2000 and is classified in the Internet Software & Services Sector.

StepStone now operates some of Europe's largest and most successful talent networks across 13 countries and continues to lead innovation in European talent networks. For example, StepStone has entered into partnerships with leading publishers to combine the benefits of print and online media for matching candidates and employers and the introduction of vertically-focused Channels allows StepStone to meet the needs of niche talent networks.

In 2003 StepStone entered the human capital management (HCM) solutions business when it started offering e-recruitment solutions.

The 2007 acquisition of ExecuTRACK, the global market leader of strategic HCM management software, expanded StepStone’s HCM solutions capability to cover the whole employee lifecycle.

StepStone now has over 1,500 HCM customers globally, from the United States, through Europe to Asia Pacific.

In less than five years StepStone has established itself as the leading European providers of human capital management solutions and one of the leading providers globally. Between 2004 and 2007, StepStone’s revenue has grown from €19 million to €98 million.

As at Q3 2008 over 16,000 organisations, including many of the world’s leading businesses, use StepStone software and services.  We operate in 16 countries and employ over 900 people.

In today's market, with growing competition for key skills, StepStone offers a unique range of software and services to allow organisations large and small to meet their talent needs.

On 11th November 2008, Step Stone's ordinary shares were admitted to the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and commenced trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol ‘STPS’.
